King County Expands Vaccine Eligibility At Kent, Auburn Sites

KENT, WA — King County is offering up vaccine appointments to serve more people at its two vaccination sites in Kent and Auburn, now open to south King County residents ages 65 and older. When the county's first two high-volume vaccination sites opened in February, eligibility was limited to those most at-risk for COVID-19 complications, including adults 75 and older, caregivers and specific groups unable to live independently. With higher vaccine allotments on the horizon, now all residents 65 and older can book an appointment starting March 1. Public Health's Kent and Auburn Community Vaccination Sites have expanded eligibility to include adults age 65 and older. We now have appointments available for this week. The caregiver or home care worker does not need to be 50 or older.Specific groups of people age 50 and older. Those who are:Unable to live independently and receiving care from a caregiver, relative, in-home caregiver or someone who works outside the home.Living with AND caring for kin (examples include caring for a grandchild, niece or nephew. This does not include parents living with their child.)Related: King County Expands Vaccine Eligibility At Kent, Auburn Sites According to Monday's announcement, new appointments were immediately available for the week ahead, but slots were expected to fill up fast. Residents can check their eligibility, find an appointment and learn more about what to expect via the King County website. As of Feb. 26, nearly 18 percent of all King County residents had received at least one dose of vaccine, and 9 percent were fully vaccinated, according to public health data. Among priority age groups, nearly 60 percent of those 75 and older had received at least one dost, followed by 52 percent of residents between 65 and 74 years old.
