Voters: King Conservation District Ballots Due By March 23

KING COUNTY, WA — The annual election for the King Conservation District's board of supervisors kicked off this week, and voters have just under three weeks left to turn in a ballot. The all-volunteer, five-member board includes three elected positions and two appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission. Each member serves three-year terms and helps oversee the district's sustainability efforts. Most King County residents are eligible to cast ballots, except in Enumclaw, Federal Way, Milton, Pacific and Skykomish. Unlike other elections, voters need to seek out a ballot online, which can be printed and mailed or submitted electronically via any desktop or smartphone. The district implemented the new system, among the nation's first, to draw more voter participation, which typically fell below 1 percent. The district also mailed out postcards to more than 800,000 eligible households.
