PUYALLUP, WA — Starting this month, Sound Transit has lowered ticket fares for the Sounder regional commuter rail for select passengers.
The reduced fares apply for low-income adults on the ORCA LIFT program, young riders ages 6 to 18, and seniors 65 and older or riders with disabilities who have Regional Reduced Fare Permits.
Sound Transit says the change should make the train more accessible to the public, and simplifies their statewide fares by bringing them in line with fares for the Link light rail and express busses.

Sounder North trains run from Everett through Mukilteo and Edmonds down to Seattle during peak commuter hours on weekdays. The South trains run from Lakewood to Seattle with stops in Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent and Tukwila. It also runs during weekday peak hours but includes limited mid-day service and options for reverse commuters.
