Description

TACOMA, WA — A commercial building in Tacoma was severely damaged in a fire early Thursday. According to Tacoma Fire, just before 4:45 a.m. their crews were called out to a building on fire in the 3700 block of Pacific Avenue. By the time they arrived, the building's roof had already partially collapsed — so they switched focus towards preventing the fire from spreading to other buildings. By around 5 a.m. the fire was largely under control, and crews began working on the building's interior and putting out spot fires. Command is reporting that the main body of fire has been knocked down. pic.twitter.com/v3zKf8hZED— Tacoma Fire (@TacomaFire) March 18, 2021 The large fire response closed Pacific Avenue from 36th to 38th for some time. The road has since been reopened. Now that the situation is under control, firefighters say they've swept the building and can confirm there were no injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
