PUYALLUP, WA — On Monday, a deadly drive-by shooting in Puyallup left one man dead and closed roads in the area for several hours. Now, we're getting a little more information from police on exactly what happened, and where the investigation is headed. According to Puyallup police, at around 2:35 p.m. Monday, dispatchers called their officers to the 600 block of 8th St NW. The first officers on scene found a number of spent shell casings and a victim, who was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The intersection had to be locked down for several hours as police investigated. Now we're learning the first information from that investigation, including that the victim was a 20-year-old Puyallup resident. His name has still not been released, but officers say it doesn't appear that he was killed randomly. "As of this time, our Detectives do not believe this was a random shooting," said the police department. "We recognize concern in the community over this incident- we too are very concerned about incidents of violence." Officers say they do not believe there is any lingering danger to the public, though they are still searching for a suspect. Witnesses to the shooting tell police the suspect had been driving a tan Dodge Durango, Chevrolet Blazer or similar SUV. Police are also asking anyone who may know more about the incident to come forward. If you have any information about the Fatal Drive-By Shooting that occurred earlier today please contact us.
