PORT ORCHARD, WA — Washington State Patrol says their troopers helped save a bald eagle that had been hit by a car in Port Orchard Monday. The bird had been struck by a car on State Route 16, but was quickly recovered by troopers — who were also assisted by a passing biologist, who helped them carefully rescue the eagle and get it to safety. (Image: Washington State Patrol)Troopers then took the eagle to West Sound Wildlife Shelter on Bainbridge Island, where it is receiving emergency treatment. Surprisingly, this was actually the second eagle troopers helped rescue this week. On Sunday, Trooper Gagley found an injured eagle alongside southbound I-5 near the West Seattle Freeway.
