Bellevue City Council Approves 3rd Round Of Grant Funding

BELLEVUE, WA — The Bellevue City Council this week approved nearly $900,000 to fund a third round of community grants using money from the CARES Act. The latest boost increases financial aid to several organizations that provide help with rent, food insecurity and behavioral health. "Priority needs in the community were determined through stakeholder outreach," city officials wrote in a news release. "A public hearing was also held after the Human Services Commission had formed their initial funding recommendations." According to the city, the commission received 15 applications which together sought double the amount of available funding. Ultimately, officials settled on the following allotment: Rental Assistance Centro Cultural Mexicano: $150,000Hopelink: $100,000India Association of Western WA: $150,000YMCA of Greater Seattle: $200,287 Food Assistance Congregations for the Homeless: $75,000YMCA of Greater Seattle: $100,000 Behavioral Health Congregations for the Homeless: $72,000India Association of Western WA: $50,000 The council will need to take a final vote next month before the funds are available.
