Description

Growing Bay Area general contractor specializing in multi-family maintenance and repair has an opening for an estimator for paint and small construction. An estimator’s duties would include performing field take-offs, developing a scope of work for reconstruction projects, creating a complete accurate estimates and submit proposals on or before due dates. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform field take-offs of existing multi-family residential, HOA community and commercial properties. • Develop scope of work for painting and small construction projects (Less than $50,000) • Obtain proposals from potential sub-contractors for work that will not be perform in-house • Complete accurate estimates and submit proposals on or before due dates • Maintain bid log and follow up on outstanding proposals • Administer hand-off meeting from Estimating to Project Management and Production staff upon award of contract • Prepare change orders for on-going projects • Perform periodic milestone audits of on-going projects • When necessary perform project management task on certain projects • Project responsibility from pre-construction to closeout; client and subcontractor relations, team collaboration, project scheduling, budgets, change orders, and submissions. • Initiate and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and vendors. • Manage subcontractor performance in conjunction with field operations, and take action to resolve any performance issues. • Collaborate with on-site superintendents to ensure projects are on schedule, within the budget and meet and/or exceed quality standards and client expectations. • Process and handle construction paperwork as necessary. • Prepare subcontractor agreements as necessary. • Assist in pulling permits; over the counter with renderings or blueprints. • Assist in preparing estimates when needed • Work closely with company’s senior management team to insure all necessary details are internally communicated to the appropriate parties REQUIREMENTS: • 3-5 years’ construction estimating experience • Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project. • Adequate freehand drawing skills • Exceptional communication, i.e., working effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, clients and other project managers. • Must have strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments. • Attention to detail is essential. • Availability to work extended hours as required by project schedules or urgent circumstances.
