Bluebirds could be making themselves at home in Dumfries.
A bluebird nesting box has been placed at Merchant Park.
It was added by Virginia Bluebird Society President Valerie Gaffney and volunteers from Didlake in Woodbridge on Thursday.
The volunteers plan to check it each week, according to Historic Dumfries Virginia Executive Director Lisa Timmerman.
Community members have a chance to learn more about bluebirds.
The Virginia Bluebird Society and Historic Dumfries Virginia are hosting "Inviting the Bluebird of Happiness to Your Yard" on Saturday.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the virtual program will cover the life cycle and how to take care of a bluebird nesting box.
Tickets for the free event are available on eventbrite.
