What's Up Prince William March 17, 2021 Shoppers may think twice about using a plastic bag in the future. Prince William County is looking into a plastic bag tax. Information about the tax and a sustainability plan will be shared at the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) meeting on April 6, County Executive Chris Martino explained at Tuesday's meeting. County staff are working with jurisdictions across the region on the ordinance that would establish the tax. The plastic bag tax, Martino added, doesn't have to connect with the fiscal 2022 budget's adoption. The revenue localities collect through the tax should go to environmental efforts, including cleanups and education programs.
