Press release from the Town of Westwood: March 29, 2021 The Annual Town Election has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 28, 2021 On March 25, 2021, the Select Board voted to postpone the Annual Town Election from Tuesday, April 27, 2021, to Wednesday, April 28, 2021. The vote was pursuant to the Provisions of Chapter 5 Acts of 2021, extension of Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020, Sections 1 and 2, 1(a). The reason for the change in our Annual Town Election date, which is dictated by our Town Charter (sec. 2.2.1), is as follows: Westwood Public Schools are planning to return to full in-person learning, 5 days per week, starting on Monday, April 5, 2021. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the Sheehan and Downey School gymnasiums are to be converted into temporary classroom space making these spaces unavailable as polling locations for the Annual Town Election which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, 2021. In order to not disrupt established polling locations, it was determined the Town would need to seek out an alternative plan for the Annual Town Election. Westwood Public Schools has a Staff Professional Development Day scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, 2021, and school will not be in session. As a result, the Town can proceed with voting in person for the Annual Town Election on Wednesday, April 28th,2021 without any disruption to established polling locations.
