Description
Salamander Rights is my band. For the last 27 years I have been the only member (and only listener). Now I throw the doors open. Have a listen at SoundCloud.com/salamander_rights. Particularly check out Andromeda and First it Hits Your Heart. They are most representative of the sound I am after.
I am a multi-instrumentalist (primarily guitar & voice, plus woodwinds, percussion, and bass) and songwriter. It is mostly done by ear, although I occasionally bust out the manuscript paper to work something out.
I have quite a bit of material in the works. I would love to meet some creatives who could collaborate to finish and perform it, as well as eventually writing together. I'll need at least two players who can also sing harmony (or lead sometimes?) At the very minimum I will need for this project:
Percussion (congas/cajon/bongos etc. The sound features quite a lot of cross rhythm that would require two percussionists). Drum kit would be ok too, although it would be nice if we could practice in smaller spaces. I don't currently have a large rehearsal space.
Bass (guitar or upright)
A guitarist who can double on acoustic and electric. If you can find your way around a banjo or mandolin, awesome.
At least one woodwind player (competent on at least one [flute, clarinet, saxophone, etc]. Doubler preferred)
A keyboardist would be a fine addition, could possibly carry some of what a guitar would otherwise do.
All other instruments please inquire. If you dig the sound and could see your music fitting in with it, let's give it a shot.
Due to a busy work and family life I will probably only be available to practice 1-2 times per week. I am looking for competent players who can learn their parts and come to rehearsal prepared to play. Please have at least a basic knowledge of music theory and reading ability. Eventually I'd like to start playing out when this damned pandemic ends.
