MANASSAS, VA — A winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Giant Food on Dumfries Road in Manassas. The ticket is now worth $1 million, after it was the only ticket to match the first five numbers on Wednesday night's drawing.
The winning numbers for the Powerball drawing on March 10 were 17-18-37-44-53. The Powerball number was 18. The million-dollar ticket from Manassas matched the first five numbers, but missed the Powerball number.
The Manassas ticket was the only one in the country to match the first five numbers.
Since no ticket matched the Powerball number as well, the total Powerball jackpot swells to about $169 million, according to the Virginia Lottery. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. on Saturday.
Whoever owns the winning ticket has 180 days to claim their prize. First, they should sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership, the Virginia Lottery said in a news release. Whenever the winner is ready to claim their prize, they should contact the Virginia Lottery.
The odds of winning the $1 million prize from the Powerball is 1 in 11,688,054. The Giant Food store that sold the ticket will also receive a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.
