FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The 70th annual Fredericksburg Fine Arts Show and Sale recognized the hard work of the area's artists, and raised money for community programs. The Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events Department and the Woman's Club of Fredericksburg announced award winners in several categories.
"The Monkey Way," by Joshua Moore won Best in Show. "River Rocks," by Lizbeth Castellano-King was recognized as the Most Popular Vote Winner by the show's attendees.
The show was free of charge to attendees, but many artists sold their work to attendees. The proceeds from the show will support the Woman's Club Of Fredericksburg's scholarship program, according to a news release from the City of Fredericksburg.
Proceeds from the show will also assist the Parks, Recreation and Events community recreation programs.
More than 85 artists displayed over 22o artworks at this year's three-day show from March 12 to March 14. The show attracted 550 people to the Dorothy Hart Community Center in downtown Fredericksburg. Attendees were required to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Organizers also limited the number of people in the exhibit at any time, the City of Fredericksburg said.
Artists of all experience levels competed for awards like Best in Show, First Place, and Popular vote in eight categories, including mixed media, oil paints, watercolor paints, and 3D sculpture.
