Enjoy a small group guided tour of the Monadnock Center's fine early American furniture collection!
The Monadnock Center is home to a small collection of fine early American furniture. During this gallery talk led by the center’s director, Michelle Stahl, guests will enjoy seeing and learning about the high chests, tall case clocks, chairs and tables that tell us about life in early America and the collecting craze of the early 20th century that saved many of these 18th and 19th century pieces.
In this program, see hidden compartments, learn about the theft of an important New Hampshire highboy, examine a mystery desk, and even ‘meet’ a local abolitionist!
The talk has been designed as a small group discussion, giving participants the chance to ask questions, to share knowledge, and to see the furnishings and artifacts up close.
