MEDFORD, MA — MA Civil Service has opened the application process for Medford police officers. The examination is held every two years to establish a list of eligible candidates to fill open positions with the Medford Police Department.
MA Civil Service is currently accepting applications online at https://www.mass.gov/orgs/civil-service. The deadline for application submissions is April 20, 2021. The written examination for Police Officer is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
People interested in a career as a police officer are encouraged to apply for the examination. Information will be posted on the Medford police website at www.medfordpolice.com later this week. Eligibility requirements to become a Medford officer may be found on the website as well.
Information will also be available through a link on each of the department's other social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which will link to the "Recruitment" page on the Medford police website and the MA Civil Service Police Officer Application page.
Medford police said the goal is to build a more diverse police department, not only in terms of race and gender, but also other characteristics, including religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, language ability, background and life experience.

Medford Police Chief Jack Buckley encourages individuals interested in serving their community as a police officer to apply for the Civil Service Police Officer examination.
