BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington's water restrictions will go back into effect Thursday with step one of the town's water conservation measures. No watering is allowed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and automated or sprinkler water is only allowed every other day. Even-numbered addresses can water on even days, odd-numbered ones on odd days. The restrictions apply to both residential and commercial properties. The town will give out warnings for first violations, $50 fines for second violations and $100 fines for further violations. The following water uses are still permitted at all times. "Watering of gardens, flowers, and ornamental plantings by means of a hand-held hose only.To meet core functions of a business or commercial activityApplying necessary surface treatments (aka washing exterior surfaces) such as paint, preservatives, stucco, pavement, or cement.Car washing and filling of pools during 1st and 2nd steps only."If the town enters a mild drought, automatic watering will be limited to one night a week. In a significant drought, non-essential watering is banned entirely. Additional details on the water restrictions are available here.
