Two Asburn Teens Lead a Project to Help Their Home Country

Next Gen Women Empowerment is a nonprofit created by Aasritha Bhoopati and Deetya Gupta, two juniors at Independence High School. Currently they're teaching classes to a group of girls who are students at two under-resourced schools in Northern Chennai, India. The lessons taught in these classes consist of S.T.E.M. topics since most of the students have a blooming interest in that field and also since Aasritha and Deetya believe they should be encouraged to pursue a career in a stereotypically male dominated field. Along with those lessons,  NGWE hopes to teach other valuable topics such as harassment prevention, which is a prevalent problem in India.Their mission is to support women around the globe to become the next generation’s female leaders. This is why Aasritha and Deetya believed that their first major project should be helping out the less fortunate girls from their own home country.
