Press release from the Arlington County Government: March 29, 2021 ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department's Homicide/Robbery Unit is announcing the arrest of a suspect in a carjacking offense that occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday, March 28. Christian Espinoza, 27, of Woodbridge, VA, was arrested and charged with carjacking. He was held on a secured bond. At approximately 12:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the Unit block of S. Carlin Springs Road for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female witness was inside a convenience store when the suspect approached her, grabbed the items she had placed on the counter and stated he was paying for them. The suspect then exited the store without paying. Upon exiting the store, the suspect approached the vehicle associated with the female witness and attempted to hand the male occupant a drink. When the male declined, the suspect allegedly punched him on the side of the head and proceeded to open the vehicle's door, pull him out and began assaulting him. The occupants from the suspect's vehicle attempted to intervene and when the suspect refused to comply, they left the scene. Upon seeing that the suspect vehicle had left the parking lot, the suspect entered the victim's vehicle and fled the scene. At approximately 12:40 p.m., the suspect turned himself in to police. He had previously contacted the victim of the carjacking and reported the vehicle's location. Police recovered the vehicle at the intersection of 6th Road S. and 6th Street S. in Fairfax County.
