Description

From the City of Dunedin: March 31, 2021 Families can now bring their children to play at one of Dunedin's most popular park destinations. Dunedin Parks & Recreation has completed the playground and swing set renovation project at Edgewater Park, 51 Main St. Dunedin. The playground features two separate playground areas; one for preschool (2-5 year olds) and one for school-aged 5-12 year olds. With the location of the playground next to the Dunedin Marina, the Edgewater Playground has a nautical theme with aqua tone colors, sea life and life ring panels, and wooden planks. The new swing sets include an ADA swing with a molded seat back and harness. Additionally, a "parent and child" swing set was installed so families can swing together. The previous addition of playground equipment at Edgewater Park was done in 2017 with extra consideration for inclusive design and with the support from the GFWC Women's Club of North Pinellas and the Disability Advisory Committee. The school-age unit included multi-generational and barrier-free equipment including a wheelchair accessible rocking boat and a merry-go-round with raised seat backs for additional support. Staff has worked diligently to expand upon the inclusive design. An additional feature to the playground includes a large shade canopy that covers the new equipment protecting users from the harsh Florida sun and providing for an enjoyable experience throughout the year. Picnic tables are located under the shade canopy, providing a 360-degree view of the entire playground and allowing parents and guardians to simultaneously keep an eye on children of different ages at both the 2-5 year old and 5-12 year old playground areas. Get out and play! Edgewater Park and playground is located at 51 Main St, Dunedin, near the Dunedin Marina.
