NPHW is a growing movement to create awareness and improve the health of our nation. This year's theme is "Building Bridges to Better Health". During the week, we celebrate the power of prevention, advocate for healthy and fair policies, share strategies for increasing equity and engage with our community. 2020 highlighted the importance of a strong public health system to keep our community engaged, educated, and healthy. Our communities are now in more need of support than ever before. Public health affects nearly every part of our lives. It was public health that led to laws requiring the use of seatbelts, guidelines protecting clean air and water, Tobacco 21, restaurant inspections, and more. "National Public Health Week provides the opportunity to highlight the importance of our community's health and well-being. The role of public health is crucial in numerous ways; from helping to lower disease rates to improving the community's health, to combating epidemics, mental health assistance, and even connecting people to the resources they need to improve their lives. We are thankful for all those who serve our residents and improve our City's access to living a healthy lifestyle..." said Jennifer Herriott, Assistant Director of Metro Health's Community Health and Safety Division. This year Metro Health will be partnering with Gonzaba Medical Group to coordinate two drive-thru events for the community. Produce bags filled with fresh fruits and vegetables along with Metro Health educational information, face masks, and more. "Now more than ever the importance of health care is crucial for the future our country, our community and our families," said Dr. Bill, founder and FEONOF Gonzaba Medical Group.
