Press release from the City of San Antonio: March 31, 2021 Councilwoman Sandoval's Statement on Council's Decision to Create Vaccine Registry CONTACT: Matteo Treviño [email protected] SAN ANTONIO (March 31, 2021) — City Council unanimously approved a decision to create a community-wide vaccine registry at a special Council meeting called by Councilmembers Viagran, Sandoval, and Courage. Councilwoman Sandoval issued the following remarks: "We have heard for months from residents that signing up for a vaccine feels like a lottery system that only those with fast internet and flexible schedules can win. The State's decision to expand vaccine eligibility last week drives the urgency to find a better approach." "Today's decision begins the process of developing a unique registry system through Health Access San Antonio (HASA). Once ready, the registry will make it significantly easier for residents 65 years and older to obtain a vaccine appointment." "I am grateful to my council colleagues Councilmembers Viagran, Rocha Garcia, and John Courage for their collaboration on this issue. Thank you to City staff for their work and the major vaccine providers who supported creating this registry." This press release was produced by the City of San Antonio.
