ROUND ROCK, TX — Round Rock ISD will allow students to remove their masks during outdoor physical activities beginning Monday, officials said.
The district announced Wednesday it would update its mandatory requirement for mask usage in its schools by allowing students the option to keep or remove their masks during outdoor activities like gym class and recess.
The update will go into effect on Monday, authorities said.
The new policy states students who do remove their mask must maintain social distance from others. If a student does remove their mask, they must put it back on once the outdoor activity is over.
Mask requirements for students, staff and visitors continues to remain in place, officials said.
