Press release from Houston Food Bank: March 9, 2021 Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) recently announced a donation of more than $600,000 to three local non-profit organization: Houston Food Bank, Montgomery County Food Bank, and Interfaith Ministries of The Woodlands. The donations include funds contributed by Huntsman associates at its Conroe, The Woodlands and Houston Ship Channel locations and a few key Huntsman service providers, as well as matching funds from the Huntsman family, the Company, and the Beaumont Foundation. Faced with the devastating impact of Winter Storm Uri on the Greater Houston area, Huntsman Chairman, President and CEO Peter Huntsman issued a "24-hour challenge" to associates for donations to support on-going relief efforts. Including matching funds, the company raised more than $600,000, including $400,000 from Huntsman associates, key service partners, Huntsman Corporation, and Peter and Brynn Huntsman. The Beaumont Foundation*, founded by Huntsman Board Member Wayne Reaud, contributed an additional $200,000. "Last week's freezing weather devastated people's homes, and the loss of power, water and other resources has created a dire need for so many in our area," said Peter Huntsman. "Commitment to community is fundamental to Huntsman Corporation's spirit and we have long supported local food banks and charities who provide for our neighbors. Many of our associates experienced hardship in the past week and their generosity is typical of their compassion. I want to thank them and our business partners and hope, through these donations, that we are able to support a quicker recovery." Because of the storm, individuals have missed work, suffered damage to their homes and lost food. The Houston Food Bank is providing food so that they can focus their resources on recovery expenses. Due to the pandemic, many people are already on the verge of food insecurity and an event like this is catastrophic. This is a strain on an already elevated food-insecurity crisis brought on by the pandemic. "We want to extend a special thank you to our friends at Huntsman Corporation for their generous donation, which will provide 600,000 meals to families in need after the winter storm that hit our region," says Brian Greene, president/CEO of Houston Food Bank. "While the storm may be over, the effects of this disaster on our neighbors will last for weeks and months to come. The Huntsman associate pledge drive ended on Tuesday, February 23, and participation was entirely voluntary.
