Press release from the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District: March 11, 2021 Idali Vasquez, a senior at Harlingen High School South completed a state-qualifying performance at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Meet on March 6. Vasquez has been a member of the Harlingen High School South Hawks Powerlifting team for three years. Hard work and commitment have helped her achieve the goal she set for herself during her sophomore year. As a senior, she has maintained a top ten regional ranking throughout the season. Reaching a personal best in all of her lifts propelled her to be a state contender. Competing in squat, bench press, and deadlift Vasquez posted a combined weight of 825 pounds. Vasquez will represent her school and community at the State Powerlifting Meet on March 18 at the American Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi.
