MERIDEN, CT — A man wanted on murder charges in New York was caught in Meriden on Tuesday, according to police. Members of the Meriden Police Department's Detective Division assisted the US Marshal Connecticut Violent Crime Task Force in catching fugitive Antwon Mcgowan, 29. McGowan had an active arrest warrant out of New York on a second-degree murder/attempted murder charge. Police found him at 1966 North Broad St. at the Parkway Motel, and he was taken into custody. Police searched his room and found a .380 caliber gun and a quantity of crack/cocaine. The gun had been reported stolen out of North Carolina. McGowan was held on $500,000 bond. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, theft of a firearm, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and fugitive from justice.
