AUSTIN, TX — Is your kid a "shining star" in front of an audience? Here's your chance to let your child sing, dance and perform all out this summer. Paramount Theatre will host virtual 2021 Summer Camps from June to August. The camps will be hosted digitally on zoom and will enable campers to attend from anywhere. This summer, Paramount Education will offer three types of camps: Summer Songwriting Workshop, Camp Paramount and Camp Story Wranglers. The Summer Songwriting Workshop, which begins June 8 and continues through August 3, is geared towards middle and high school students who want to learn the basics of songwriting and explore different genres of popular music. Camp Paramount, which will offer two-week sessions in June and July for grades 1-10, will teach students how to learn and perform Broadway-style musical numbers and will offer training in voice, acting, dance, and production from professionally trained theatre artists. Camp Story Wranglers, which will offer a two-week class for grades 3-8, will allow campers to explore story-writing, songwriting, costume/prop design, and acting. Each camp will end with Camp Movie Nights to celebrate the campers' hard work in the historic Paramount Theatre or Stateside at the Paramount setting, officials said. Last summer, more than 100 young people in grades 1-9 participated in the first virtual summer camp. Camp registration is open online at www.austintheatre.org/camps, where scholarships are also available for all sessions.
