Bucks Co. Teens In Weekend Crash Remain Critical, $100K Raised

NORTHAMPTON, PA — Four Neshaminy High School students remained hospitalized Wednesday, with some in critical condition, after a fiery, head-on crash Saturday night on Bridgetown Pike. The four girls continue to recover in the hospital, according to a Bucks County District Attorney's Office spokesman, as does a man who was riding with Shane Brolly, 23, of Philadelphia. Authorities say Brolly was trying to pass another vehicle when he crashed into the teens' car, knocking it back 50 feet. According to the District Attorney's Office, which is prosecuting the case, the four teens "have undergone multiple surgeries for their various injuries, with many surgeries yet to come." Brolly's passenger also remains in critical condition, according to the spokesman. The crash happened at 10:12 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Bridgetown Pike, near Playwicki Farm Park. Prosecutors say Brolly was driving his pickup truck north when he tried to pass a Nissan Murano and struck the girls' Mazda CX5. The crash was in a no-passing zone and police said they found both open and unopened alcohol containers in Brolly's truck. The Nissan also would hit Brolly's truck, police said, but its occupants were treated and released at the scene. On Wednesday, the DA's office still was waiting on the results of a blood-alcohol test in the case. Brolly was arraigned in his hospital bed on five counts each of aggravated assault and aggravated assault by vehicle, all felonies, as well as eight misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person. Prosecutors say Brolly is not a U.S. citizen and was identified by his United Kingdom driver's license. On Wednesday, a fundraiser for the girls on the GoFundMe site had raised more than $100,000 from nearly 2,000 donors.
