BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — A nonprofit in Bucks County is giving young filmmakers a chance to show their skills, and win a prize, by making a short video about alcohol misuse. No Longer Bound is asking for submissions from students in Bucks County. Timed to coincide with Alcohol Awareness Month, the group is asking students to film a video between 30 seconds and one minute that addresses how they would talk to their family and friends about underage drinking and other alcohol use. "According to the Pennsylvania Youth Survey, 25.7 percent of students reported that their parents provided them with alcohol (and) 42.3 percent of students reported that alcohol was sort of easy or very easy to get," said Damita Harvey, prevention manager at No Longer Bound. "We are hoping this awareness campaign will keep the lines of communication open between young people and their family members and result in the development of constructive prevention strategies." The top three entries will receive an Amazon gift card and the winning entry will be screened at the Bristol Youth Virtual Summit which is scheduled for May 13, 2021. All videos must be in mp4 format and should be sent to [email protected] by 6 p.m. on April 30. Contestants are asked to use the subject line "Video Contest" in their email, along with their name and contact information. No Longer Bound is a community-based group that addresses drug use, alcohol and other behaviors by providing training, resources and prevention education. Based in Bristol, they can be reached at 215-788-9511 or [email protected].
