Description
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A pedestrian threw a large log onto state Highway 4 on Monday and a driver was nearly hit by the piece of wood, the California Highway Patrol said.
It happened at 4:30 p.m. Monday on westbound SR-4 just east of Port Chicago Highway in Concord; the pedestrian was in the right shoulder adjacent to the golf course and chucked a large, thick piece of wood toward oncoming traffic, the CHP said.
The round piece of wood was described as 2 feet long with a 12-inch diameter.
"The reporting party narrowly avoided being hit by the large log," the CHP said. "We are seeking the public's help in this matter."
CHP asked anyone who recalls seeing a pedestrian around 4:30 p.m. Monday in the area where the incident took place — and can describe the person and what they were wearing — to call CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
