CHARLOTTE, NC — A 7-year-old girl was left seriously injured when she was struck by stray gunfire Tuesday evening, caught in the crossfire of a shooting in a northwest Charlotte apartment complex, according to police. The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Marble Street shortly after 7 p.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. "The initial investigation indicates that unknown suspect(s) were shooting at each other in the apartment complex parking lot," CMPD said. "At least one of the rounds struck a 7-year-old female victim." According to reports, two male juveniles were injured during a drive-by shooting on Hovis Road — about one mile from the Marble Street location — around 3:30 p.m. when someone in a white Mercedes Benz opened fire in front of Hope Mart. The location is on the same block where a man with a three-year-old was shot less than two weeks ago, the station said. "They fled the scene here and went to a nearby home where they called for help," said CMPD Maj. Brian Foley, WBTV reported.
