UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in a residential building on the Upper West Side, according to the FDNY.
The flames ignited at 1:52 p.m. on the fourth floor of a building at 249 West 62nd Street, which is an address part of the Amsterdam Houses NYCHA development that stretches from 61st to 64th Street.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday there are 60 firefighters battling the flames within the six-story building.
