Description
Mesa Public Schools is being investigated by Arizona's Attorney General's office for falsifying lead results at every school-CR 2019-3544. Please see our FB page Safe Water in Mesa Schools? Extreme lead was found in 2017, as high as 4200 ppb. 15 ppb is the EPA's action limit. Instead of notifying parents the lead levels, they indicated a trace amount of lead was located. They also altered the parent-letter from ADEQ. MPS told parents all the other water faucets were safe for drinking, even though the water hadn't been tested. In 2018, to protect themselves from legal liabilities they quietly informed parents via a communications app that they did additional testing. They didn't, they had just "created" documents to make it appear they had. MPS violated FOIA laws when they refused to release PUBLIC records, but emails indicate that leaded-solder was used for basic repairs. L/S is extremely lower in cost than unleaded-solder but illegal to use for drinking water plumbing. This is extremely unacceptable & unethical. Parents sent their children to school to learn, not to be poisoned. The Governing Board has been fully complicit in this cover-up. Contact MPS
