A free educational event with some exciting speakers on holistic and alternative therapeutic trauma treatments. Free CEUs will be offered for attendees. Our scheduled speakers for 4/20/21 are: Richard Gaskill, Ed.D., has worked in community mental health for over 45 years and is the current Executive Director of Sumner Mental Health Center in Wellington, KS. He has studied and collaborated with Dr. Bruce Perry, the Senior Fellow of the Child Trauma Academy, on several books and the use of NMT guided play activities in treating trauma, and he has received numerous awards and recognition for his work. He will be discussing his work on the treatment of trauma using play therapy. Scott Spradlin, LPC, LMAC, has provided DBT and mindfulness-based psychotherapy at both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse clinics, community mental health centers, and private practices. He has written a successful book on DBT techniques and will be presenting on using DBT to treat trauma and addiction-related trauma. Cheryl Kumberg, RN, CMT, has over 40 years of nursing experience and is passionate about holistic healthcare. She belongs to two national cannabis nursing associations and will be discussing her research into the use of cannabis to treat trauma. Melanie Cloud, LCMFT, CHT, is a practicing therapist who is EMDR trained and a certified hypnotherapist. She will be presenting on her work with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and the use of psychedelics in the treatment of trauma.
