Position Overview: Transports furniture, decorative items, art and miscellaneous items between multiple facilities while adhering to the truck run schedule. Operates vehicles and mechanical equipment as required to facilitate loading, unloading, and transport of all property, as appropriate to the area of operation. Arranges the storage of all property in an efficient, safe and organized manner. Sets up auction showrooms. Routinely interacts with both internal and external clients. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**): * Loads and unloads property onto and off trucks, ensuring that appropriate padding and ropes are used to prevent damage. * Once certified through Michaan’s will be asked but not required to operate forklifts, mechanical lift gates, dollies, pallet jacks and various equipment to facilitate loading and unloading of property, as appropriate to the area of operation. * Locates and relocates all property as needed in order to maximize efficient and safe storage of all property. * Understand, maintain and utilize the internal inventory system in order to ensure that all property is accounted for at all times, in storage as well as in route from one facility to another. * Arranges and sets up furniture and related items for auction showrooms, special events, etc. * Operates a large box truck in the transportation of moving property, as necessary. * Performs dump runs and additional tasks to assist in the safe and proper disposal of trash. * Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. * May perform general maintenance and custodial duties. * May serve as the main contact person in communications with clients regarding the drop off or pick up of property. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Supervision Received: A Crew Member is expected to exercise good judgment and decision-making abilities while performing his other duties with moderate supervision. Qualifications & Skills: REQUIRED: * Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. * Professional demeanor * Ability to safely and efficiently operate mechanical forklifts, lift gates, dollies, pallet jacks as appropriate to the position. * Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. * Ability to safely operate a large box truck, as appropriate to the position. * Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. * Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. * Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, extensive lifting of furniture, carrying, pushing, or pulling, required of objects over 50 pounds. Driving/operating foot control, walking on uneven surfaces, crouching, kneeling or crawling, grasping, squeezing and fine manipulation.
