I am looking to hire a weekend care provider for my elderly mother. She is 73 years old, and is mentally ok but very physically weak. She needs help with all functions, including getting dressed, bed/wheelchair transfers, toilet, meal prep, showers, and laundry. She wakes up around 7:30am, eats breakfast, does morning exercises in bed, then either goes outside to the farmers market or sits at her computer until after lunch. She usually naps in the afternoon and wakes up again around 1pm for lunch. She goes to sleep around 8:30pm. You would arrive at our house around 7am and leave at 9pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Experience with elder or special needs is a must. Good skills with either English or Russian is a requirement. You'll need to know how to prepare simple meals. Some physical strength and ability is required - my mom weighs about 105 pounds and is 5’2” and you would need to feel comfortable performing transfers and pushing her wheelchair. We'll have a Hoyer lift within a couple of weeks to make things easier. I will show you how to do things here for the first couple of days.
Our home is my mother (vaccinated), me and my husband (we just got our first vaccine shot, but not fully vaccinated yet), my mother’s Monday-Friday live-in care-provider (fully vaccinated), and our friend who does her schoolwork in our office and doesn’t visit other households. We’re looking ideally for a vaccinated person, or somebody who is in the process of getting vaccinated.
If interested, please email me with a resume or a few words about your past experience with elder care.
