MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough Public Library's long-anticipated move to the Walker Building will begin in April, and the library will begin shutting down services this week in preparation. On March 31, patrons will no longer be able to place holds on materials from the Marlborough library. The last day to pick up or return material will be April 5. However, anyone with a Marlborough library card can use other libraries in the Central and Western Massachusetts Resource Sharing (CW MARS) system, including in Hudson, Southborough and Berlin. The library move was supposed to happen last summer, but was delayed due to budget trouble caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The library's move to the Walker Building, 255 Main St., will allow the city to complete a $24 million renovation of the West Main Street building. The library's reopening in its new temporary home should be complete by May, but an exact date has not been set, according to city officials.
