POLK COUNTY, FL — A 44-year-old Lakeland man was killed in a single-car crash on Interstate-4 in Polk County early Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver drove his truck westbound on I-4 in the inside lane near milepost 34 when he lost control of his vehicle when he had a medical emergency, investigators said. His truck drove into the media and slammed into nearby cable barriers. Authorities said he died at a local hospital.
