Crash course in birdwatching skills
Want to learn about birdwatching and bird identification?This two day class is for beginner birders, ages 10 to adult.Class size is limited.We will take precautions for COVID, details will be sent to participants.
Date: May 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 16 from 8 a.m. to noon
Place: Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge, 480 Richland Pl, Monroe, LA 71203
What the course covers: field guide and binocular use, bird identification by sight and sound, introduction to eBird and other bird apps. Instructors will provide bird guides and binoculars for students to use for class. The class takes place inside and outside. Participants must be able to walk on mowed trails and uneven ground. Bird walks may last up to 2 hours.
What to bring: water bottle, sack lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, closed-toe shoes (no sandals, no flip flops).
