Press release from the City of Boulder:
March 29, 2021
All City of Boulder buildings and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, March 30 to give city employees time to grieve and honor victims of the tragic shooting last week.
All employees will have the day off except for those in essential roles that provide critical services, such as those in life safety positions. Those that do have to work on Tuesday will receive eight hours of vacation leave for use at a later date.
"Our entire community is reeling from this tragedy, including our employees," said Interim City Manager Chris Meschuk. "Ten lives were lost last week, including a beloved colleague and a city advisory board volunteer, and our staff need space and time to reflect, grieve and process an incredibly challenging week."
As announced last week, there will be a public memorial service for Officer Eric Talley on Tuesday, March 30. In-person attendance will be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the 11 a.m. service will be broadcast live on local news stations and online. Many city employees have indicated they plan to join the memorial service in-person or virtually.
All City of Boulder public meetings and city-sponsored engagement events will also be canceled on Tuesday, including the Racial Equity Guiding Coalition meeting and new board/commission member orientation.
