PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island saw an across the board increase — albeit slight — in its weekly coronavirus data over the past week. New hospitalizations, the percent positivity rate and case numbers all ticked up since last Tuesday. The latest data from the Rhode Island Department of Health showed the largest increase in cases per 100,000 people, which rose from 223 to 266. Case numbers are also the only data indicator still above the safe threshold of 100 cases per 100,000 people. New hospitalizations, meanwhile, rose from 116 to 119, while the weekly percent positivity rate went from 2.0 percent to 2.4 percent. Both of these categories are still within their safe ranges. (Rhode Island Department of Health) The state's vaccine distribution effort continues to steam ahead. As of Tuesday, close to 215,000 Rhode Islanders were fully vaccinated, while more than 536,000 total doses had been administered.
