NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTS FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT Samuel Valerio, 38, of the 15200 block of Woodlawn Avenue, Dolton, is accused of having an outstanding warrant for an arrest from the Will County Sheriff's Department for failure to appear in court, and was arrested after turning himself in at 2:47 a.m. March 20 in the 1400 block of Landwehr. Bond was set at $2,500. DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE Aleksander Szuba, 44, of the 4200 block of Bon Hill Drive, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence, and was arrested at 7:10 a.m. March 22 following a traffic crash investigation involving one car at Lake Cook Road and Skokie Boulevard. He was processed and released after posting a $2,500 bond. Szuba is due back in court April 13. Number of Graffiti Incidents Reported Around Town INCIDENTS SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES A resident in the 900 block of Kensington Drive reported that between Jan. 6-7 they had several service providers in their residence to complete repairs. The complainant reported that after the work was completed, they found that a Chanel purse was missing from a bedroom closet. THEFT An employee at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road called police at 2 p.m. March 19 to report two men, wearing masks, were seen on video removing a cell phone from a purse. BURGLARY TO VEHICLE A citizen reported at 2:36 p.m. March 21 that someone broke a window of their vehicle and removed a wallet from the driver's door pocket at Lifetime Fitness, 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard. While conducting the above investigation, an officer contacted the owner of a second vehicle that had a broken window at 3:02 p.m. March 21 at Lifetime Fitness, 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The owner reported that nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE A person reported at 2:26 p.m. March 23 that someone damaged the bumper of their vehicle while it was parked in the 1400 block of Shermer Road. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT A person called police at 2:30 p.m. March 18 to report that they were attempting to contact a person in the area of the 1800 block of Techny Road regarding a legal matter. The other person entered their vehicle and drove away, nearly striking the complainant.
