POTTSTOWN, PA — A woman accused of driving drunk was traveling 28 miles over the speed limit when she crashed her car into a guide rail on Route 422, authorities said. It is the third time the woman is charged with driving drunk at the highest blood alcohol content level, according to court records. Just before 8 p.m. on March 22, North Coventry Township Police reported they responded to a guide rail crash site in the eastbound lane of Route 422 at mile marker 171.6. Police said they found a white Chevrolet Equinox had hit a rail head-on. The driver, Sandy Zazueta, 35, of Pottstown, was alone in the car, police said. Court records show Zazueta is charged in Chester County with DUI, highest rate (Blood Alcohol Content 0.16 percent), third offense, in the March 22 incident. Court records show Zazueta pleaded guilty to DUI, highest rate (BAC +0.16) in 2017, and was placed on an Intermediate Punishment Program for two years. Zazueta pleaded guilty to a public drunkenness charge in July 2020. In 2016, Zazueta was charged with DUI, highest rate (BAC +0.16) first offense, while exceeding the speed limit by more than 28 miles per hour. Make sure you know what's happening in your town.
