LISLE, IL —Lisle Trustee and mayoral hopeful Sara Sadat spent much of Monday fielding phone calls from Craigslist about her vehicle and from "house for cash" companies about her home, neither of which are for sale. Sadat told Patch she does not believe it's a coincidence her social security number and date of birth, along with her personal and campaign contact information, were compromised in the lead-up to an election that she described as "getting more and more negative." Sadat said she wanted residents to be aware of the incident. "Every single boundary that could be crossed has been crossed," she said. The Craigslist posting, which Sadat said uses her campaign email and personal phone number, also references information from the candidate's personal life. "They had so much more information," Sadat added. Sadat said she was also contacted by a "house for cash" company called HomeLight. She told Patch the representative said they needed additional information from her and confirmed that they already had her date of birth and social security number. The phone call about her house hit Sadat especially hard, she said, since she and her family were displaced from the home due to a fire in mid-February. "This is criminal activity," Sadat said, "You do not compromise anyone's identity, no matter how much you dislike them." Sadat told Patch she filed a report with the Lisle Police Department, adding that the incident has served to motivate her further. She said, "It makes me want to continue to serve the community even more."
