CLEVELAND — Ohio saw a spike in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations Tuesday. The Buckeye State had been averaging 1,617 new cases per day, along with 89 virus-related hospitalizations. On Tuesday, the Ohio Department of Health confirmed 2,458 new COVID-19 cases and 151 hospitalizations. That's the second most new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations confirmed in the past three weeks, according to the state health department. At least 964,712 Ohioans have contracted COVID-19 and recovered, the Ohio Department of Health said. More than 28 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. More than 16 percent of Ohioans have received both COVID-19 vaccine shots. As of Tuesday afternoon, 3.32 million Ohioans had received at least the first shot of the two-part COVID-19 vaccine; and 1.9 million Ohioans have completed the vaccination process.
