Fortis Industries, dba Logistics & Technology Services Inc. is interviewing for Hydrant Technician/Maintenance Plumber on our Southern California contracts. We are looking for a candidate with ambition, a strong desire to learn new skills and a willingness to work as part of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision. Position requires a plumbing experience and an understanding of water system distribution. Duties for this position will include, but may not be limited to the following: Inspection of fire hydrants for visible leaks, damage, or missing components Flushing of hydrants on a predetermined schedule and frequency to maintain water clarity throughout the water distribution system. Flow testing & recording results to ensure proper parameters are maintained per California Regional Water Control Board Reporting & record keeping congruent to government criteria Maintaining scheduled flushing and testing schedules per written contract Removal & replacement of damaged or nonfunctioning hydrants as required. Knowledge/Skills: Skilled in the use of hand and power tools typically used in the plumbing trade Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices (Conforming to OSHA 30 Standards) Ability to read maps, blueprints, and rough drawings Familiar with Schedule 80 PVC, CPVC & Ductile Iron & Copper piping Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills a must Ability to complete tasks unsupervised or unassisted Excellent problem-solving skills Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously Proficient in basic mathematics and conversion measurements Education & Experience: Must Posses a high school diploma or GED Additional Trade specific courses preferred 3-5 years experience in the maintenance field Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid, active state driver’s license. Must possess Distribution II [D2] Certification Within the first 30 days of employment complete company sponsored OSHA 30 General Industry (29 CFR 1910) training and certification Within 60 days of employment required to pass Recycled Water Site Supervisor Certification Have or obtain backflow testing certification and cross connection control certification (will Increase Pay) T2 Certification preferred Work Environment: Employee may be required to work indoors or outdoors during seasonal heat and cold and other potential adverse weather conditions. Employee may be required to work where they may be exposed to fumes, dust, and odors. Some high noise levels from the operation of specific equipment Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks as related to maintenance.
