Learn and try salsa dancing, a little merengue, bachata, and cha cha as well. Casual, welcoming environment for those 55 and older.
This class for seniors offers the basics of Latin Dance, focusing on Salsa, but also including dances like bachata and merengue.
Join us Thursday, April 8, 1-2:30 PM at the Howard Park Event Center for a workshop on unpartnered dancing that includes a warm-up, beginning steps, some background and history and more.
We meet up again on Thursday, May 20, 1-2:30 PM to start some partner work (bring your own partner, work with someone there, or choose to learn the moves unpartnered). You can attend one or both! Modifications for doing the moves seated in the first workshop provided for those who want to shake it without standing.
No previous dance experience required for either. Good exercise, good brain training, and good times! Each workshop costs $20 per person. Must have 10 people enrolled. Dancers will be well-distanced and please bring a mask. Participants will also receive a free pass to any Latin Monday at the park in June or July. Taught by Bridget Hardy, founder of South Bend Latin Dance. Bridget has taught Latin Dance for over 7 years, and is also a fitness instructor and wellness coach.
