PHOENIX, AZ — The Arizona Diamondbacks are releasing an additional 8,000 seats for the team's home opener on April 9.
The team, which initially limited capacity at Chase Field to 25 percent, or 12,000 seats, will now make 20,000 tickets available for the team's opener against the Cincinnati Reds.
The tickets will go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. Friday after the initial capacity allotment sold out in less than two hours, the team said.
"As we continue to see the key measurements improve throughout the state and the restrictions lifted on businesses, we feel very comfortable that we can permit additional fans to enjoy D-backs baseball while still providing a safe and comfortable environment," Diamondbacks President & CEO Derrick Hall said in the release. "We will continue to require masks and ask fans to distance appropriately while keeping all other policies in place to start the season."
Those that make their way to the downtown ballpark for the team's home opener will find a host of COVID-19-inspired changes.
Chief among those are increased sanitation of stadium facilities, in addition to cashless concessions and merchandise sales.
