*This event is open to Harvard University, affiliates, and wider community beyond Harvard *Reach out to [email protected] for any questions Moderated by HGSE student Tiarra Little (Oglála Lakȟóta), Being a Good Relative: Processes in Indigenous School Design kicks off a four-event series centering Indigenous Design; organized in collaboration with the Harvard Indigenous Design Collective (HIDC) and Future Indigenous Educators Resisting Colonial Education (FIERCE). Our four relatives joining us are: - Kimimila Locke (Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta and Ahtna Dené) from the Wakpala on Standing Rock Rez, co-developer of Mní Wičhóni Nakíčižiŋ Woúŋspe (Defenders of the Water School) - Alayna Eagle Shield (Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta, Bdewákhaŋthuŋwaŋ Dakȟóta, and Arikara) from Little Eagle on Standing Rock Rez, co-founder and continued co-developer of Mní Wičhóni Nakíčižiŋ Woúŋspe (Defenders of the Water School) - Sage Fast Dog (Sičháŋǧu Lakȟóta) from Soldier Creek on Rosebud Rez, SD, co-founder of Wakȟáŋyeja Tokéyaȟči Wóuŋspe Tipi (Children’s First Learning Center) - Anpao Duta Flying Earth (Húŋkpapȟa Lakȟóta, Dakȟóta, Ojibwe, and Akimel O’odham) from Wakpala Standing Rock Rez and currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Head of School at the Native American Community Academy and Executive Director of the NACA-Inspired Schools Network Please participate respectfully ❤ Most importantly, we acknowledge that there are SO MANY(!) incredible Indigenous educators GLOBALLY working on the creation, development, and sustainment of Indigenous schools and knowledge systems.
