It's time to continue our 2021 line-up of virtual talks by taking advantage of the format and talking to a current LA animator with deep roots in the Boston scene: Cal Ramsey (calramsey.com).
MassArt grad Cal Ramsey got their start right here in Boston, animating and boarding on WordGirl at Soup2Nuts, which closed its doors in 2015. In 2017, eight years into their career, Cal made a decision that has crossed the minds of many Boston animators interested in TV and/or feature work: they moved to LA. Since that move, Cal has worked as a story artist for projects like Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Close Enough, and is currently at Warner Bros. directing a new show, Little Ellen.
We'll talk with Cal about their years in Boston, how they made the decision to head out to LA, how their life and career have changed, and stayed the same, since that move, and what advice they have for anyone in Boston who is weighing the importance of location to their animation career. There will also be time for Cal to take questions from all of you!
We hope you join us for another free night of Boston animation inspiration
